A short extract of my story The Gluttonist, a Kafkaesque dystopian horror. The piece is set in a famine-stricken town where the main form of entertainment is a grotesque ritual known as “The Gluttonist”: a recurring performance in which a local resident is chosen to eat themselves to death for the crowd’s amusement. The following extract is the opening of the piece.
